We all want to reach a heightened state of perception. Your intuition and higher wisdom comes alive when your centered energy is fully open and balanced. Unfortunately, reaching this state may be a little difficult for some of us due to past traumas, mental illness and many other things that can cause a disturbance within us. There are many other ways to open your third eye but these are what started my journey to more advanced steps. Be sure that you do these with caution for some people have not balanced all of their chakras. When you are in low frequency, opening this eye is dangerous, it allows you to see the unseen. Sometimes you become unable to keep balance between what is reality and what is not.
I have always been an extrovert. I love talking and meeting people. Sometimes this led to trust issues and hurt. I needed to learn how to say "no" to certain activities and things that weren't going to benefit me. I needed to spend time with myself and learn. So this next step was a bit difficult. Advancing the silence of the mind, either it be through meditation, absorbing nature or doing a sport you enjoy. The third eye perception elevates your senses to more subtle levels. To be able to listen to the messages and intelligence that comes from your third eye, you need to be ready to perceive the whispers and quietness of its wisdom.
Paying attention to your dreams. Dreams can be terrifying, wonderful and maybe disorienting. Even then, do not shrug them off of your shoulders. Write them down, listen to them and study them. Freud theorized that dreams act as a mental safety valve, allowing people to experiment with negative emotions, fantasies and impulses. There was a period in time where I constantly kept having dreams but in a series. In these dreams, I was just running down the street for hours, frantically. I would wake up feeling so abandoned and unsteady. I would eventually forget all about the dreams throughout the day just to go home and experience them all over again. I knew that what I was experiencing was so much deeper than just a dream. I began to meditate and I would constantly feel an overwhelming presence from my ancestors before me. I knew that I was running from something I was called to do, which was spread awareness through out the minority community about past oppression and colonized America.
Once I realized my calling I knew that I had achieved that enlightenment just by listening to a message I repeatedly kept getting through sleep.
Eating nutritious diets. Personally, this was the hardest step for me. I love food. Food at one point was something that kept me company in my most darkest times. I knew that if I wanted to elevate my third eye I needed to get rid of all bad habits I had developed due to overwhelming darkness. Eating better meant that I needed to figure out how I was going to start a plan and stick with it. The ancestors of African Americans brought many wonderful food traditions to parts of the Caribbean, South America and the southern states of the U.S. Over time, many of these traditions were and are being lost due to the influences of modern North American eating habits. As I said when talking about meditation when it came to my dreams, I constantly felt my ancestors communicating with me. If what I was studying and wanted to practice was going to elevate my third eye, improve my health and most of all connect me to my ancestors... I was all in.
These steps are reachable. But they take time and most of all dedication. Opening this eye will connect you to people and maybe even distance you from people. The growth within yourself is unimaginable and fulfilling.
